Small batch
Pear and Cardamom Smoothie
Soft ripe pear and a little cardamom create a gently spiced smoothie. This recipe uses peeled, very ripe pear cut into small pieces rather than hard, crunchy fruit.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cold milk or unsweetened plant drink | 130ml |
| Very ripe peeled pear, cored and finely diced | 85g |
| Plain yogurt | 35g |
| Ground cardamom | A tiny pinch |
| Vanilla extract, optional | A few drops |
Method
- Peel the pear, remove the core and seeds and cut the soft flesh into small pieces.
- Pour milk into the bottle. Add yogurt, pear and just a pinch of cardamom.
- Check the maximum fill line and blend according to the model manual.
- Taste before adding more spice; cardamom can overwhelm delicate pear. Serve promptly.
Make it your own: A firm pear may stay grainy or require more power than a compact blender can comfortably provide. For firm fruit, use cooked and fully cooled unsweetened pear purée instead.
Nutrition notes
Nutrition depends on the chosen ingredients, brand and exact amounts. This recipe is an editorial ingredient suggestion, not a kitchen-tested or laboratory-analysed nutrition claim. No precise calorie or macronutrient figures are asserted.
Portable blender notes
Ingredient volumes and density vary. Adjust the quantities downward if necessary for your specific appliance and never exceed its working fill line. Add suitable cold liquid first, prepare fruit into small pieces and check the frozen-fruit and ice precautions before making substitutions. Do not force stalled blades. Follow the Smothie manual for model-specific guidance.
Allergens and other considerations

For compact blending, add liquid first and cut firmer ingredients into smaller pieces. If the mixture is too thick to circulate, add a small splash of liquid and blend again.
